Working alongside his firm, this successful renovation of a beautiful historic mansion was completed. An open floor plan and large windows give the house a modern feel, while the brick façade speaks to the context of the historic neighbourhood. For this renovation of an existing barn, the original heavy timber structure was straightened and clad in new barn board, then SIP panels introduced to achieve continuous insulation. The cladding of this modern coach house echoes the copper accents on the main house, and has naturally weathered to a beautifully subdued tone over time. The client commissioned a personal residence that would take full advantage of having his workshop and tools close at hand. The resulting custom wood elements include a white oak stair and walnut millwork throughout.
